1 of June - Children's Day!

If today's nature to a warm sunny day, it becomes doubly happy - because the first day of summer in many countries is the International Children's Day (International Children's Day). This holiday, many Russians mark the International Children's Day.

International Children's Day - one of the oldest international holidays. The decision to hold it was made in 1925 at the World Conference on Child Welfare in Geneva. History is silent as to why the children's holiday, it was decided to celebrate it on June 1.

According to one version, in 1925, Consul General of China in San Francisco gathered a group of Chinese children orphaned and made them a celebration of Duan-jie at (Dragon Boat Festival), the date of which just came in on June 1. By happy coincidence, the day coincided with the timing of 'child' conference in Geneva.

After the Second World War, when the problem of preserving the health and welfare of children was as topical as ever, in 1949 Congress held in Paris on women, on which voiced the oath of the tireless struggle for lasting peace as the only guarantee of happiness of children. A year later, in 1950 June 1, held its first International Children's Day, then this festival is held annually.

The flag of the International Children's Day

At the International Children's Day is a flag. On a green background, symbolizing growth, harmony, freshness, and fertility, the Earth around the sign posted stylized figures - red, yellow, blue, white and black. These human figures symbolize the diversity and tolerance. Sign of the Earth, located in the center - a symbol of our common home.

I wonder what this holiday is actively supported in countries that have chosen the socialist path of development. In the era of the Soviet Union on June 1 in school summer vacation began. International Children's Day celebrated speeches and discussions on the Rights and Welfare of Children, held screenings of new children's feature films and television programs, organized sports for children, often inviting them to participate and parents.
